QA Automation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join a growing product-focused technology team working on a complex, cloud-based platform within the healthcare domain. This role is ideal for someone passionate about test automation, quality-first engineering, and modern “shift-left” practices.

The Role

You will take ownership of the automated testing strategy, helping evolve a scalable and maintainable automation framework while collaborating closely with developers, QA leadership, and product stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain a robust test automation framework (Playwright-based)

  • Enable automated testing within ephemeral environments, including dynamic configuration and service discovery

  • Develop test data seeding and environment management utilities within a containerised setup

  • Translate business and technical risk into effective automated test coverage

  • Provide technical mentorship, code reviews, and automation standards

  • Advocate for quality and testability early in the development lifecycle

  • Support exploratory and manual testing when needed during critical releases

  • Validate API reliability, performance, and correctness

Tech Stack

  • Languages: TypeScript / JavaScript (Node.js)

  • Automation: Playwright

  • Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), AWS, ephemeral environments

  • Version Control: GitHub (PR-based workflow)

About You

  • 7+ years’ experience in QA Automation / SDET-style roles

  • Strong TypeScript skills and understanding of web technologies, HTTP, and REST APIs

  • Comfortable balancing automation with pragmatic manual testing

  • Experience integrating quality checks into CI/CD pipelines

  • Confident working in cloud-native, containerised environments

Nice to Have

  • Mobile automation experience (e.g. Appium)

  • Basic security testing knowledge (OWASP, Burp Suite)

  • Performance testing experience (e.g. k6)

  • Exposure to healthcare or regulated data environments
